MachineMax
Maximizing construction and mining machines

It is extremely hard to monitor and manage the approximately 50 million heavy, off-road equipment vehicles in use globally, largely due to lack of connectivity and data standardization. The result? Huge wastages in operations, fuel usage, and maintenance.
MachineMax provides an equipment management platform for off-road equipment users and owners to maximize the productivity and profitability of every machine in the greenest way possible—any make, any model, anywhere.
MachineMax customers manage their entire fleet with a proprietary, battery-powered sensor that uses advanced machine learning to analyze and report machine state. They can integrate data from a wide variety of third-party telematics providers to access a holistic fleet overview.
BCG Digital Ventures Role
BCG Digital Ventures and Shell identified the opportunity, built and tested the MVP, and set up a stand-alone entity. Three senior Digital Ventures employees went on to form the nucleus (CEO, CTO, CPO) of the new business and grew it to manage more than $300 million worth of assets in construction, mining, and industrial companies across 30 markets and six continents. With Shell acquiring full ownership of MachineMax in June 2021, co-founder Amit Rai returned to DV, and Shweta Saxena, a former Lead Product Manager at DV, moved up from CPO to CEO.
